A New Year, A New Team: University Lodge of Chester Steps Up

There’s a well-known phrase in Freemasonry—the “ladder of progression.” Each officer climbs a rung year by year, gaining experience, building confidence, and supporting the Lodge in turn. But as the newly appointed officers of the University Lodge of Chester gathered for their official photograph, one thing became clear: this year, the “ladder” looks far more like a stairway to heaven … largely because we couldn’t actually find a ladder!
What we did find was a group of committed Brothers, all literally and figuratively on the rise. Our Stewards, Deacons, and Wardens proudly took their places—each officer stepping up to serve, support, and strengthen the Lodge in their new role. Their enthusiasm is as evident as their upward climb, and the energy they bring promises a vibrant and productive year ahead.
Presiding over the team is Worshipful Master Gray Stevens, whose steady leadership and warm encouragement set the tone for the months to come. With WM Stevens guiding from above (and perhaps keeping an eye on the “staircase safety”), the Lodge is in excellent hands.
Freemasonry thrives on continuity, mentorship, and shared purpose—and this year’s officer line-up captures all three. Here’s to another successful year for the University Lodge of Chester. May the officers enjoy the journey, the fellowship, and each new step on their upward path.
Onward and upward, Brethren!
